ကျွန်မသည် ပဲခူးတိုင်းဒေသကြီး အနောက်ပိုင်း၊ ပွေးယားကျေးရွာမှ ဝက်မွေးမြူရေးတောင်သူတစ်ဦး ဖြစ်ပါသည်။ ယခင်က ဝက်စာဈေးနှုန်း မြင့်တက်ခြင်းနှင့် ဝက်များ မကြာခဏ နာမကျန်းဖြစ်ခြင်းတို့ကြောင့် အရှုံးများနှင့် ရင်ဆိုင်ခဲ့ရပြီး လုပ်ငန်းကို လက်လျှော့ရန်အထိ စဉ်းစားခဲ့မိပါသည်။

ထိုသို့ စိတ်ဓာတ်ကျနေချိန်တွင် “ထွက်တိုး” ၏ ကွင်းဆင်းဝန်ထမ်းများနှင့် တွေ့ဆုံကာ ဝက်မွေးမြူရေးဆိုင်ရာ စာတွေ့လက်တွေ့သင်တန်းများ တက်ရောက်ခွင့် ရရှိခဲ့ပါသည်။ သင်တန်းမှတစ်ဆင့် ဝက်ခြံစနစ်တကျ ဆောက်လုပ်နည်း၊ ဇီဝလုံခြုံရေးနှင့် အစာအာဟာရ ပြည့်ဝမျှတရေးတို့၏ အရေးပါပုံကို သိရှိခဲ့ရပါသည်။

ထို့နောက် ထွက်တိုး၏ နည်းပညာပံ့ပိုးမှုဖြင့် ရေကျောက်ခက် (Azolla) ကို စတင်စိုက်ပျိုးပြီး ဝက်စာတွင် ရောစပ်ကျွေးမွေးခဲ့ရာ အစာကုန်ကျစရိတ်ကို သိသိသာသာ လျှော့ချနိုင်ခဲ့ပါသည်။ ရလဒ်ကောင်းများကြောင့် ယခုအခါ ကန်အကြီးများဖြင့်ပါ တိုးချဲ့စိုက်ပျိုးထားနိုင်ပြီ ဖြစ်သည့်အပြင် ရေကျောက်ခက်သည် စိုက်ပျိုးရေးအတွက်ပါ အကျိုးပြုသဖြင့် အဖိုးတန်အရင်းအမြစ်တစ်ခု ဖြစ်လာခဲ့ပါသည်။

ယနေ့တွင် ကျွန်မသည် ဝက်မွေးမြူရေးလုပ်ငန်းကို ယုံကြည်မှုအပြည့်ဖြင့် ဆက်လက်လုပ်ကိုင်နေပြီ ဖြစ်ပါသည်။ စိန်ခေါ်မှုများကြားမှ မှန်ကန်သော နည်းပညာနှင့် အသိပညာများကို မျှဝေပေးသော ထွက်တိုးကို အသုံးပြုခြင်းဖြင့် တပိုင်တနိုင် မွေးမြူရေးလုပ်ငန်းများ ရေရှည်တိုးတက်မှုအတွက် အခြေခံကောင်းများ တည်ဆောက်လာနိုင်မည် ဖြစ်ကြောင်း မျှဝေပေးလိုက်ရပါသည်။

A Pig Farmer’s Journey with Azolla and Htwet Toe

I am a pig farmer from Pwe Yar Village in western Bago Region. Pig farming has been our family’s livelihood for many years. However, in the past, rising feed prices and frequent pig diseases caused us many difficulties. There were times when I suffered heavy losses and even thought about stopping pig farming altogether.

During that difficult period, I met the Htwet Toe field team and had the chance to attend both theoretical and practical training on pig farming. Through the training, I learned about proper pigsty construction, biosecurity measures, and the importance of balanced nutrition for pigs.

With technical support from Htwet Toe, I also started cultivating Azolla and mixing it into pig feed. This helped reduce feed costs significantly while keeping the pigs healthy. After seeing good results, I expanded Azolla cultivation into larger ponds. I also found that Azolla can be useful for crop farming, making it even more valuable for our household.

Now, I continue pig farming with much more confidence. From my experience, I believe that with the right knowledge and support, small-scale farmers like us can overcome challenges and improve our livelihoods.
